So it arrives - Autumn is just around the corner with all the special events and beautiful weather. I can't wait to see the leaves start to turn, but it's bittersweet to say goodbye to summer.

One thing that happens around here that gets a lot of excitement and energy is the 70 mile yard sale, which goes from Montague to Stratford, PEI. We all go to some of the sales, no way you could get to all of them. Do you plan to go to any yard sales ? I love to see what people don't value, and practically give away. This is one of my favorite things to do on a weekend - the earlier the better. Wait too long and the best stuff will be gone.

Some of the things I've found at yard sales and garage sales have been made into very special garden art, and there is more in the making.

Fall is also a great time to check out the local thrift store, as people tend to declutter their houses and barns in the late summer or fall. Here are some of my favorite thrift store finds .

What is the best thing you ever found at a yard sale or thrift store? Did you make it into anything? If you are busy building some rustic crafts we would love to see them; go to the page linked here - scroll to the bottom to see where to share your story and add some pictures.
