All cabins need a sign, mostly to give guidance to visitors, as cottage country may not have good street signage. If this is your cabin, make your sign something fun and unique.
Some of the most fun of all cabin signs are those that are rustic, and punny. Funny sayings, funny cabin names, with a list of rules to follow (or not) make all the difference to your guests visit to the lake or mountain.
They can be hand painted, stencilled, or wood burned, or routered. Depending on the look of your cabin you can find the right method to make your own rustic cabin sign.
Everybody has a different vision of what their ideal cabin, camp or cottage looks like, and it also hinges on the location, whether it's in the mountains amidst tall trees, on a windswept beach on the ocean, or a tranquil lakefront.
The name of your cabin could be a play on words; something punny.
Or, simply the state of mind that you and your visitors have when there.
There are many ways to make your cabin sign, from a piece of weathered driftwood, to something produced by machine in metal.
Match the appearance of the cabin or cottage when choosing the sign. It can be jarring if you have a modern building, with very complicated signage.
Painted, or stenciled, the words can be clearly read, or well disguised, depending on your fancy.
The sign can be hung on the porch overhang, or be attached to a post, or set on a fence.
Some cabin signs are attached to a communal post or even a tree, showing the directions to weary travelers, letting them know they're close to their destination.
As an added quirk, they could be painted on a worn out paddle, painted in the same colors as the cabin.
