The Cajun Hippie - south Louisiana

by Penny Sonnier
(Carencro, La)

I've always been thrifty and worked many years in the furniture industry selling everything from the standard box store items to custom made cypress furniture made in my small town.

After suffering a personal trauma, I found myself not sleeping for days, up all night and barely living.

It was a small piece of wood I picked up on a walk that changed everything.

I turned that little piece into a beautiful refrigerator magnet and my passion and talent was born.

Creating beauty from old animal bones, wood I pick up, thrift store finds and trash was my therapy. I'm just learning and can use advise. I love the Pacific Northwest and the the driftwood you can find there so, always looking for source there.

My signature on every piece is a tiny spruce cone. Not something we have a lot of in South Louisiana. Looking forward to talking to and making many new soul friends. I am on Facebook my page is The Cajun Hippie...thank you again for this site.

Penny, what a great story - so happy that you found a way to heal yourself with nature. You are truly an inspiration.
