Terracotta hens with hens and chicks

Terracotta hens with hens and chicks

After losing all my bantam chickens to a marauding bear last fall, I renovated my little hen house to be a garden folly/tool shed/storage shack - even now it is bird themed though I can't have any real ones.

I have two terracotta clay hens filled with hens and chicks (Sempervivum) and old antique bird cages hanging from the rafters.

Handmade twig chicken house furniture like a twig handled hen box, chicken ramp and more are displayed outside.

In the diminutive little building, I keep my willow twigs stored for use in baskets, trellises and gates.

It's fun to locate bird themed items to display around my Eggporeum. I look in garage sales and the thrift store and watch for that perfect item to add to my collection.
